Rusmiddeldirektoratet

A redesign proposal for 'The Norwegian Directorate for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Problems'.

Original Logo

Logo Development

Final Logo. The logo is an abstract representation of what the directorate does; it tries to prevent alcohol and drug problems. By enforcing laws and giving funds to rehabilitation centres, the directorate acts as a protective and supportive element. The standing rectangle represents the directorate; a filter that creates harmonic individuals in a safe environment.

Choosing the right colour. In the first attempt, I tried an orange colour for the "unprotected" individuals. The combination looked a bit bland and I swapped to a red colour instead. The new colour combination uses only primary colours and looks much better. The rectangle was given a blue colour to represent stability and safety, and the "protected" individuals was given a green colour to represent harmony.

The letterhead in black and white. The name of the directorate is quite long. I used the condensed typeface 'Industria' to make the letterhead as short as possible.

Standard letter. The background of the letter is meant to represent the hallucinogenic state of drug abuse. A perspective version of the directorates logo is placed on top of this pattern. It is meant to communicate that the directorate can help you out of drug abuse if you let them.
