University work: The Bluff Project

I was given the word cryptanalysis, which means "the art of deciphering codes". For the final piece I chose to design my own typeface. It was constructed by subtracting the left half of the characters, with a few exceptions like the 'i' and the 't'. To give the visual an extra touch, I put "the art of deciphering codes" in the background by using braille characters. Braille is only intelligible to those who know the language or the code, which was very appropriate in this context.

I tested the image on half a dozen people to see if they managed to find out what my given word was, and to my surprise there were a few that did not. The people who did had also understood how the typeface was constructed. In other words, they deciphered the "code".
